Overview
The Purchasing Product Manager manages inventory, sourcing, and mill relationships for stainless-steel flat rolled products across multiple branches. The role balances sales forecasts with purchasing to ensure cost savings and supply reliability.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Optimize stock levels across 3+ branches using sales forecasts.
Track inventory health by identifying slow-moving or obsolete materials.
Expedite vendor orders to fulfill urgent customer and branch demands.
Supplier & Procurement
Source flat rolled products based on market and customer needs.
Manage mill relationships, tracking production schedules and constraints.
Negotiate pricing and terms to maximize savings and quality.
Qualify new suppliers to diversify the vendor network.
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with sales on customer requirements and product substitutions.
Update internal teams on pricing trends and mill lead times.
Systems & Compliance
Use ERP and Excel to track inventory and supplier performance.
Ensure compliance with company procurement and import/export standards
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
7+ years of procurement experience purchasing stainless steel flat rolled mill products.
Technical & Professional Skills
Inventory Optimization: Proactively manage and optimize stock levels to prevent shortages.
Vendor Management: Skilled in negotiation, supplier relations, and ensuring vendor quality.
Advanced Excel: Highly proficient in data analysis and reporting (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with sales, operations, and leadership teams.
Supply Chain Strategy: Focused on cost reduction, supply continuity, and process improvement.
Compliance & Problem-Solving: Adept at navigating fast-paced environments and import/export regulations.
