Description

As Director of Engineering & Security, you will lead all technical, facilities, and security operations of the hotel, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, sustainability and guest comfort as while as providing leadership and support to a high-performing team. Key Role Responsibilities: Engineering & Facilities Management - Lead all engineering operations, ensuring robust preventative and corrective maintenance programs across 400 guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces and building system. Provide guidance and support for all team members in the Engineering department. - Oversee all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, fire life safety systems) to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance. - Drive capital planning, asset lifecycle management, building projects and long-term maintenance strategies in close collaboration with property ownership. - Manage vendor relationships, oversee capital improvement projects, ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations. Security & Safety Leadership - Lead and oversee the hotel’s security function, ensuring a safe environment for guests, team members and building assets. - Oversee property security team, security protocols, emergency response plans and risk mitigation strategies aligned with brand standards and local regulations. - Ensure full compliance with fire, life safety, and crisis management procedures, acting as the lead during emergencies and other events requiring incident response. Financial & Project Management - Lead departmental budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and results driven decision making. - Manage vendor relationships, service contracts and timely project completion to ensure quality, value, and compliance. - Oversee renovation projects and initiatives, ensuring quality execution, and minimal guest disruption. Leadership & Team Development - Actively participate as a member of the Executive Committee, contributing to strategic planning, operational decisions and overall hotel performance. - Support, coach and inspire a high-performing department teams, fostering technical excellence and a guest experience focus mindset. - Establish clear standards and training initiatives to ensure consistency and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field or equivalent technical certification - Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in hotel engineering, with prior experience as Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer in full-service brand hotel environment required with property of at least 250 rooms. - Strong knowledge of building systems (Life Safety Systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, hotel systems such as lock and key systems and related software systems - Proven experience managing capital projects, asset management and hotel brand building standards - Demonstrated ability to lead both Engineering and Security functions, with a strong understanding of building regulations, risk management and crisis response. - Experience driving sustainability initiatives, energy optimization, and environmental compliance programs. - Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and cost control - Ability to demonstrate effective leadership, communication and team-building management skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment - Strong communication skills for coordinating with hotel departments, vendors and guests - Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to quickly address operational issues - Time management and organizational skills to prioritize maintenance projects and emergencies - Additional language ability preferred Team members at Hilton Charlotte Uptown enjoy competitive benefits including Hilton travel discounts, medical, dental, vision and life insurance plan options, health and wellness programs, PTO (Paid Time Off) benefits, complimentary meals and retirement savings options with company match.
