Job Description Senior Electrical Engineering Manager 08/25/2026 Reports to: SVP of Operations and Engineering Direct Reports: 26 Position Type/Hours: Full-time, on-site position. Core office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Position Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and elevate our electrical engineering team. This role blends deep technical expertise in industrial automation and custom machine controls with people leadership, with a primary focus on strengthening electrical design excellence, solving application challenges, advancing controls architecture and standardization, improving safety and regulatory compliance, and increasing financial awareness across the team. This leader operates with a servant leadership mindset by removing obstacles, developing people, and ensuring the team delivers safe, reliable, practical, cost-effective, and on-time solutions without unnecessary process constraints. Essential Functions: Servant Leadership & Team Development - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and controls engineering professionals with varying levels of experience. - Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. - Build team capability in first principles thinking, risk identification, critical thinking, and proactive problem solving. - Remove barriers that slow engineering productivity or create unnecessary friction. - Communicate information clearly and effectively to build buy-in, influence others, and support successful delivery. - Promote a “scrappy but disciplined” approach focused on customer and business value, not bureaucracy. - Identify skill gaps and create targeted development plans that support professional growth and succession planning. - Recruit and onboard strong electrical and controls engineering talent. - Facilitate effective individual one-on-one and team meetings. - Model, steward, make decisions upon, and expect to be held accountable to Delta ModTech’s values which include: - BELIEVE IN PEOPLE - FEARLESS INNOVATION - INTEGRITY - PASSIONATE & TENACIOUS - SERVANT LEADERSHIP This position should demonstrate a passion for serving others and a commitment to play a key role in creating a people-first, value-based culture that delivers our purpose of "serving people by solving problems". Technical Leadership - Lead the development of robust, scalable, and maintainable electrical design and controls programming practices for custom converting, packaging, and coating machinery, and automation. - Lead the continuous improvement of electrical architecture, controls platforms, design standards, reusable hardware and software solutions, and documentation practices. - Provide hands-on technical guidance and design reviews for complex, high-risk, or first-of-kind systems. - Drive sound applications of PLC, HMI, motion control, servo, industrial networking, machine vision, robotics, and safety control technologies. - Champion electrical safety, machine safety, control panel design, and compliance with applicable customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. - Ensure electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, I/O documentation, and software deliverables are complete, accurate, serviceable, and released on time. - Ensure technical and execution risks are identified early in the design phase and drive proactive mitigation plans. - Drive consistency in engineering standards while maintaining flexibility for unique or outlier projects. - Implement lessons learned and feedback loops from design, panel build, machine assembly, debug, validation, installation, and field performance. - Partner with service and manufacturing teams to improve machine reliability, troubleshooting effectiveness, and lifecycle support. Project Execution and Resource Leadership - Plan and maintain up-to-date resource planning for the electrical engineering team, ensuring projects remain properly staffed while adapting to project changes and business needs. - Ensure design, hardware, software, testing, and documentation deliverables are defined, sequenced, and completed in alignment with overall project timelines. - Partner with operations leadership and project management to develop realistic schedules, resource plans, commissioning plans, and milestones. - Establish clear accountability within the team for meeting commitments and deadlines. - Introduce and instill strong financial ownership within the electrical engineering team. - Collaborate with project management and leadership on scope, budgets, change management, and risk management. - Ensure engineering decisions align with customer requirements, machine performance, lifecycle support, and overall business objectives. Operations Team Participation and Leadership - Participate and contribute within the Operations and Engineering leadership team, enabling tactical decisions, strategic planning, and cross-functional problem solving. - Develop and maintain strong relationships across departments which includes but not limited to engineering, production, sales, project management, manufacturing, service, supply chain, and people and culture. - Represent and advocate for the electrical engineering team throughout the company. Education and Experience: Required - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. - 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering or industrial automation, preferably in custom machinery, converting equipment, automation, or capital equipment. - 7+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role. - Strong background in industrial control system design, electrical schematics, control panel design, PLC/HMI programming, motion control, industrial networks, and machine safety. - Demonstrated ability to deliver complex engineering projects that meet performance, schedule, and budget expectations. - Proven history of identifying and mitigating technical, safety, and project risks early. - Ability to communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, technicians, engineers, project managers, and senior leaders. Preferred - Experience with Yaskawa, Rockwell, and/or Siemens automation platforms. - Experience with servo systems, coordinated motion, robotics, machine vision, data acquisition, and industrial communication protocols. - Working knowledge of applicable electrical and machine safety standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and relevant OSHA and ISO requirements. - Familiarity with cost estimation, project financials, and lifecycle cost considerations. - Experience implementing or improving engineering standards, software libraries, design workflows, version control, and validation practices. - Experience with electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar platforms. Position Type, Work Environment & Travel - Full time, exempt - Normal office environment - Travel less than 10%. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
