JOB SUMMARY: Provide leadership and direction for all day-to-day activities for the Test Engineering team. In addition, provides engineering support to engineers in order to maximize the effectiveness of the functional engineering team and serve as an engineering project leader. Manages the functional team’s budget, distributes work load, establishes goals, and monitors employee’s performance.

Develops goals for the team and for each individual within the team that reflects the goals of the company and the manufacturing engineering group.
Supervises, provides leadership, assigns projects, and coordinates day-to-day activities for the functional engineering team.
Develops and coordinates procedures that follow the new product introduction (NPI) process and ensures the transfer between sites is seamless and successful.
Reviews all quotes for new production models and coordinates design reviews.
Oversees the quotation, initiation, scheduling, and coordination of developmental activities for the functional manufacturing engineering team.
Develops and manages functional team tactical and strategic plans for manufacturing technical roadmaps.
Develops and maintains functional team’s design for manufacturability rules and guidelines.
Manages functional team in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This includes staff forecasting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Interfaces with customers as required and all other departments in US, Mexico, China and Vietnam

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
10 plus years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or test engineer
Experience leading or managing a team
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations: frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and factor analysis
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draws valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment
Sound written and oral communication skills; must be able to write and understand routine reports, follow oral and written instructions, and speak effectively
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people
Must have knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and be familiar with commonly used email, Internet, word processing, databases and spreadsheets
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
Able to support duties of all subordinate test engineers and technicians
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional publications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers, clients, and customers
Ability to operate a computer. Familiarity with the following software: schematic capture packages, spreadsheet, database, and word processing. Ability to develop and execute design of experiments
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in engineering preferred
Fifteen years progressive experience in test and electronics engineering
Experience in Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry desired with an emphasis in supporting offshore manufacturing facilities.
Two years of experience in engineering management
Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building, and effectively communicate.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of radiation. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The environment is fast-paced; time pressured, and requires accuracy. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building, and effectively communicate. The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times.
