Description

Position Summary The Product Manager owns the end-to-end lifecycle of Heath’s product portfolio—from market discovery through post-launch optimization. This role translates customer needs and regulatory trends in the gas-utility industry into a compelling product roadmap, then partners with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Field Operations to deliver solutions that drive revenue growth, customer retention, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate combines deep product management discipline with genuine curiosity about utility operations, an ability to move fluidly between strategic planning and day-to-day execution, and a track record of shipping products that customers love. Key Responsibilities - Support the product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for hardware solutions; communicate and defend the roadmap to executive leadership and key customers. - Translate customer and market requirements into clearly scoped product requirements, use cases, and acceptance criteria; maintain prioritized roadmap inputs that balances unmet needs, customer value, technical feasibility, manufacturability, and business priorities. - Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams through product development design reviews, stage-gate activities, spring planning, usability validation testing, and launch readiness discussions. - Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to define pricing, packaging, and go-to-market positioning for new features and releases; develop messaging, collateral, demos, and sales enablement materials; and conduct continuous market and competitive analysis including customer interviews, win/loss reviews, field rides, and industry conference insights to inform prioritization. - Build business cases for new product investments, including total addressable market size, revenue projections, and build versus buy analyses. - Drive cross-functional product launches by coordinating with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Training; support tradeshows, user conferences, and key customer engagements. - Establish and monitor product KPIs (revenue contribution, margin, customer satisfaction, product quality, field reliability, warranty trends, adoption/use in target applications) and use data to iterate on the product strategy. - Serve as the voice of the customer internally—champion a customer-centered culture across every team that touches the product. - Partner on continuous improvement efforts across processes, tools, and team effectiveness. Core Competencies Driving for Results Sets challenging, specific goals and works through obstacles to deliver on commitments. Tracks progress against milestones and recalibrates when conditions change. Continuous Improvement Identifies gaps between current outputs and what’s needed. Traces problems to root causes, generates and evaluates solutions, tests improvements, and gathers feedback. Earning Trust Does what they commit to and communicates early when plans change. Shares reasoning openly, listens to conflicting viewpoints, and gives credit where it’s due. Building Partnerships Proactively builds relationships across functions. Identifies shared objectives before acting and keeps partnerships active between immediate project needs. Customer Focus Commitment to meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders. Gathers customer feedback systematically and translates it into actionable product decisions. Safety Focus Understands that Heath’s products protect lives and infrastructure. Ensures product decisions never compromise safety standards or field-operator well-being. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience. - 5+ years of engineering or product management experience - Experience managing a product through multiple lifecycle stages, such as discovery, development, launch, post-launch support, or end-of-life planning. - Solid technical fluency: comfortable discussing hardware architecture, embedded systems, firmware, sensors, connectivity, manufacturability, reliability, and field-deployed product requirements with engineering teams. - Direct experience with Product development Stage gate processes, as well as Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent). - Strong analytical skills—able to synthesize market data, usage analytics, and financial models into clear recommendations. - Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to interact with engineering, sales, operations, and customers. - Experience developing Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), use cases, or equivalent product documentation. Preferred - Master’s in Business Administration or Engineering - Experience in the natural gas, electricity, water, or broader utilities industry, with familiarity of safety-critical or regulated field products. - Understanding of sensor-based products, embedded systems, or utility/industrial field equipment. - Experience with user research methodologies (persona development, usability formative and summative studies, Jobs-to-be-Done). - Track record of working with both internal and distributed development teams. - Familiarity with hardware manufacturing, supplier coordination, product cost tradeoffs, or field service/support considerations. Heath Consultants Values - P – Protect people, assets, and the public. - R – Respect everyone, always. - O – Own your job. - T – Tell the truth. - E – Execute with discipline. - C – Communicate clearly. - T – Take pride in quality work. Work Environment This role is based in a professional office environment with a hybrid work schedule. Occasional visits to customer sites, field locations, and manufacturing facilities are expected. Physical Requirements Primarily an office role requiring extended periods of computer work. Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 30 lbs occasionally. Travel Up to 20% domestic travel for customer visits, field observation, tradeshows, product testing, or partner meetings; occasional international travel may be required.
